About
Dr. Poon’s research primarily focuses on interpersonal relationships and processes. Specifically, he has examined the cognitive, emotional, and behavioral impacts of ostracism, objectification, and other negative interpersonal experiences. Moreover, he has examined strategies to help individuals cope with these interpersonal challenges. In recent years, Dr. Poon has also studied the predictors of beliefs in conspiracy theories and the effects of exposure to such theories. In recognition of his research achievements, he won the Education University of Hong Kong’s President’s Award for Outstanding Performance in Research (Early Career Research Excellence Award). In addition, he was awarded the Rising Star Designation and elected as a Fellow of the Association for Psychological Science (APS).
